Bar & Distillery - a counter with 160 years of history and lore. Armazem Vieira in the town During his visit to Brazil, for the seminar "Humanization of the global development", promoted by MUTUA / CREAS / RS, Fritjof Capra, Austrian physicist, dedicated to the NEW SCIENCE, declared in his two presentations "Humanization, development and economical global model", and "Energy and transgenic as elements to humanization of development", that Brazil is the unique big country ,not yet complete developed, who has created structures who allowed his society to give contribution, indicating that Brazilians are presenting the coming up of a NEW MODEL for the world. In this way, Brazil is being discovered by the global society, through its exportation products, hardware and software, products and life style and fashion. This disclosure started with the brazilian fashion, in New York, presented by exotic and non so exotic Brazilian models. As the article from Laura J. Vogel, in the New Yorker Daily News Waxing Brazilian Country and culture take Manhattan, confirms the perception of Fritjof Capra: Brazil´s principal exports include the bauxite, manganese, soy beans, timber and hotness. This mammoth country, whose geographic area is nearly as large as the U.S., has an attitude and a style that´s captivating New Yorkers. The sizzling fashion, piquant cuisine, potent cocktails, and, yes, radiant models like Gisele Bündchen have made Brazil the talk of the town. Last summer, for instance, Havaianas flip-flops were the must-haves for fashionable city-dwellers, Brazilian models were the stars of September's Fashion Week, a brand-new Churrascaria Plataforma just opened in Tribeca. Frederico Farina is a Rio native living in Brooklyn who's an art director for a Manhattan fashion advertising company. Farina has his own theory about why his culture resonates with the big city's denizens. "Brazilians are much more relaxed, professionally. I think New Yorkers appreciate that about Brazil; it's a bit of a fantasy for rushed and busy city people," says Farina. Other Brazilian designers who made a splash in the tents this fall include Alexandre Herchcovitch, known for his flirty, colorful prints; Rosa Cha (designed by Amir Slama) is the undisputed champ of the sexy Brazilian beachwear. Sami Dussin Benits is the co-owner of the recently opened SoHo shop Sol, which imports hot Brasilian clothing and accessories , and says, "Brazilian culture is not just a culture, it's the way that we live. We give value to the way people feel. I thing we live life more powerfully. We work a lot in Brazil, but we really spend a lot of time with friends. We party. Adds Benites, "I don´t think that New Yorkers don´t have that ability, they just don´t use it." Olie Berlic, a New York-based importer of hight-quality aged cachaças, says that cachaça, the national spirit of Brazil, is akin to rum, but, while most rum makers use blackstrap molasses in their production, there is a law that states that cachaça is a distillate made from sugarcane, and distill it the same manner as Armagnac. One of his high-quality aged cachaças is Armazem Vieira Onix, which is been sold at premium prices.
